Yummy weekend!

Friday 22nd would have been my beloved grandma's 80th birthday had she not sadly passed away on 17th December 2012. She was a truly lovely lady and we were very close. I spent a great deal of time with Gummie (as I apparently named her when I was very little) and one of the things she taught me was how to cook. She was a seriously good baker and her dundee cake and shortbread were the stuff of family legend. So it seemed appropriate that I have spent much of the last couple of days stuffing my face with delicious grub.

Friday saw my mum, my grandad (Grampie), and I laying some flowers at the garden of remembrance in Ipswich and then heading off to the Maybush at Walberswick for a spot of lunch. More on that in a separate post shortly.

Saturday saw the family party which would have been to celebrate Gummie's birthday, with all  the family from Portsmouth and some close family friends. We all felt that, despite the fact that Gummie wouldn't be there, we should still take the opportunity to get together, eat, drink and remember her. So eat and drink we did! We took over "the Mess" at Kesgrave Hall and had a really lovely evening. Again, more about that to come in another post.

Over all, it was a weekend with a few tears but overwhelmingly full of love and laughter which I think was a fitting tribute to my amazing and much missed Gummie.
